Disney World!

We took a family vacation to Disney World vacation in September. We (Sheila, Lauren, Maddie & myself) flew down to Orlando at 7am on Saturday 9/18/04. At that time there was a lot of talk on the weather forecasts that Hurricane Jeanne would be hitting Florida during the last part of the week we would be there. On top of that, Hurricane Ivan was just passing through Virginia. Sheila and I weren't sure if we needed to pack an extra suitcase of emergency food and supplies. I was so worried that we would not be able to go but the forecast said it would be sunny for at least the first couple of days we were there. We had put a lot of planning into this vacation so we decided to take our chances and go anyway. The flight there was uneventful except for a passenger thinking he was having a heart attack (he was okay, and walked off the plane with the paramedics when we landed). Lauren and Maddie were pretty good about flying for the first time. We brought their car seats on the plane (hard to manuever through the aisle without hitting another passenger on the head but well worth the trouble). There were plenty of other families with kids on the plane so it wasn't so bad when Maddie started to get antsy towards the end of the flight. When we got to Orlando, the pilot said the weather was sunny and in the upper 80s. It looked beautiful outside the airplane's window. Orlando International airport is a beautiful airport. Well, I guess any other airport is nice compared to Norfolk International. Initially, we planned on taking it easy the first day we got to Orlando but with Hurricane Jeanne just around the corner, we decided to go to Magic Kingdom as soon as we get checked in to Sheila's parents timeshare. We had 5 day park hopper passes and we were there for 6 days. We used all 5 days! It was so much fun. Lauren and Maddie had soooo much fun. I was very surprised at how much Maddie enjoyed the whole Disney experience. We are planning on going back in the summer of 2006. Maybe we can turn it into a Family Reunion?
